Handheld RFID Reader

A handheld RFID reader is used for cycle counting, locating a specific item and checking deliveries. It reads several hundred tags per second while sweeping the aisles.

Three criteria separate the models:

• Usable range in real conditions, well below the free-field figure quoted
• Format: integrated terminal, or a sled clipped to an existing smartphone
• Geiger search mode, which guides you to a specific tag by sound intensity

Geiger mode is what turns a stocktake into item location. On a spare parts store it is often the single function that justifies the investment.
